"Starting at Regional Road No. 105, in the Rabaçal area, this trail follows the Levada do Alecrim, located at an altitude of 1,300 metres, until reaching its source, at Ribeira do Lajeado. It is 3.5 km (one way) full of cinematic scenery in close proximity to Nature.
With an estimated duration of 2h30, and on a route considered easy, the PR 6.2 Levada do Alecrim offers wide views over the Rabaçal valley and Ribeira da Janela. The green tones are prominent, due to the characteristic density of the Laurissilva forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition, you will find some heather tunnels here, which offer a unique setting for the hiking experience.
The biggest surprise, however, is reserved for the moment you reach the source of Levada do Alecrim, a levada built with the aim of supplying water to the Calheta Hydroelectric Power Station. Here you can recharge your body by the “Dona Beja” Lagoon, which feeds the Lagoa do Vento waterfall.
The return from Levada do Alecrim is via the same path. Alternatively, you can head towards Casa de Abrigo do Rabaçal, following the Vereda da Lagoa do Vento (PR 6.3). Discover the secrets of this verdant island."
