What people say

"Born in 1918 into a family without resources, Nicolae Ceausescu dreamed of being a shoemaker and never completed elementary school, something that was not an impediment when it came to achieving his dizzying political rise. Ceausescu began his particular political career by falsifying documents, a task that included altering photographs to create a false revolutionary past that would lead him to a future at the top of power. Meanwhile, his wife became the second most powerful person in the country and also the most hated. The couple lived ostentatiously and aggrandized themselves as they deprived the Romanian people of basic resources and placed them in the deepest misery, contradicting the socialist values that Ceausescu preached in his speeches. A tour of the mansion Known as Palacio Primaverii, Nicolás and Elena Ceausescu's mansion hides many more stories within its walls than it might seem at first glance. The residence is located on one of the most sumptuous streets in Budapest, where leading party members also lived. The guided tour of the mansion shows Ceausescu's political face, but its strong point is in offering the possibility of getting to know him from a different angle, revealing, as far as possible, the dictator's more human side. During the tour of the mansion it is possible to see harmoniously decorated halls, luxurious bathrooms with the most modern amenities, a beautiful indoor tropical garden, an imposing cinema room equipped with the most modern technology and the crown jewel of the mansion: an environment occupied by a huge and eye-catching swimming pool decorated with mosaics that took years to build."
