"Mount Field National Park is one of Tasmania's oldest national parks. It, along with the east coast's Freycinet National Park, was established in 1916. The land is covered with a temperate rainforest and alpine moorland. Some of the world's tallest eucalyptus trees grow here. The park is known for its impressive waterfalls (don't miss Russell Falls), colorful fungi, unique animals (echidnas, platypuses, Tasmanian devils), and easily accessible trails, You can even go downhill skiing here in the winter. Note: You must buy a pass to visit Tasmania's national parks. You can choose between a day pass (valid for 24 hours) or, if you plan on visiting multiple parks, a holiday pass (valid for up to two months)."
