Being a relatively flat city along the Baltic Sea, Copenhagen, at first glance, doesn’t seem to offer many stunning vistas or captivating skylines to take your breath away. My own neighborhood of Amager rises only about four meters above sea level, and the inner city—with its iconic canals and quaint neighborhoods—doesn’t see much elevation either. That is not to say the city doesn’t offer impressive panoramic views for people to enjoy. If you take a boat tour of the canals and harbor, it will give you the perfect angle to admire the charming houses and impressive sights of the city. Similarly, a bus tour offers a great vantage point from which to appreciate the historic neighborhoods and the city's quaint charm. However, Copenhagen, unlike many other capitals in the world, doesn’t have towering skyscrapers like New York or London, which offer dramatic, bird's-eye views. Nor does it boast massive observation towers with breathtaking vistas, such as those in Berlin or Paris. Copenhagen is a quaint little capital with charming low-rise buildings, and much of its beauty hasn’t been hidden away behind towering districts that block the view. This lack of high-rise development gives the city a unique charm, making it into the special place it is. But what if you do want that amazing panoramic view of Copenhagen? To see the entire city in one glance and say, “I’ve literally seen it all!” First, you might have the best chance of achieving this when flying into Copenhagen Airport, provided you’re lucky enough to be seated on the right side of the plane and the approach offers a good angle. However, you likely wouldn’t be reading this if that had been enough to fully satisfy your desire for a complete view of the city. So, let me share my own recommendations for places where you can enjoy the best views of Copenhagen. These spots will not only let you take in the city from a new perspective (pun intended) but also give you that breathtaking panoramic experience you’re seeking.
