"I love Club Culinario Toscano because this is one of the few restaurants in Florence where you'll find fabulous Florentine specialties, like bistecca alla fiorentina, but also foods from different parts of Italy! With all of the regional specialties and forgotten recipes they offer, the menu might feel overwhelming even to the biggest Italian food enthusiast, so please feel free to ask details about unfamiliar sounding dishes - you'll find some gems! Here are some of my favorites, please take note that their offer is very seasonal and thus, subject to change. Hard-to-find Tuscan dishes: - fried veal brain; - whole roast pigeon. From the Lucca/Pistoia/Garfagnana area of Tuscany, try: - tordelli lucchesi al pomodoro e basilico - big, rich, meat-stuffed ravioli with a tomato and basil sauce; - neccio pistoiese di castagne e ricotta - a chestnut flour crepe filled with sweet ricotta. From Rome and the Lazio region, try: - carciofi alla Giudia - whole fried artichokes; - puntarelle saltate - a pleasantly bitter kind of chicory, served with “taggiasche” olives. From Puglia, try; - orecchiette con cime di rapa - thick, rough ear-shaped pasta with turnip greens sauce. From Sardegna, try: - culurgiones - potato stuffed pasta.
