"We recommend that you do this in the evening - sunset is the best time - because most of the spots on the coast don't get light until later in the day. So, in general, coastal spots are best in the evening. Don't park at the trailhead: there's free parking a bit farther north. Watch out for the cones - if you park by them, then you'll get ticketed. Take the McWay Falls Trail to go view the falls."

"This is another famous spot in Big Sur. You can pretty much just drive up and park on the side of the road to see the falls from the top. There is a trail that will take you to a viewing point that's a little bit closer, but sometimes the trail is closed. This is a really good sunset spot, and also during the day. The water is super blue here as well. "

"McWay Falls is arguably the most famous site in Big Sur and this hike is an easy, 1-mile hike. I wouldn't consider this much of a hike and it's more of a scenic overlook walk but highly recommended!"
