Tito's Villa Galeb

"Tito's villa Galeb is nestled within a lush pine forest, offering stunning views of the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. This luxurious residence is one of approximately twelve villas constructed for Tito during the era of Yugoslavia. The villa's establishment was influenced by Tito's treatment at the nearby Igalo Institute, which proved to be highly effective, leading to the decision to build a villa in close proximity. Located at the convergence of Mediterranean and continental climates, the villa benefits from optimal recovery conditions, contributing to its reputation as a health center. Constructed in 1976, the villa was completed in just six months. It features four levels, 137 rooms, and spans an impressive area of 5,500 square meters. Notably, the fourth level includes a nuclear shelter designed for emergencies. This basement also houses a unique water control system resembling an aquarium, supplied with the same water as the rest of the villa. It is home to fish that thrive only in pristine water; their mortality serves as an indicator of water quality. If the fish perish, an alarm is triggered, and the water supply to the villa's fountains is halted. Surrounding the villa is a sprawling park that covers more than 75,000 square meters. The villa is designed to accommodate up to 30 guests, who can also access medical and rehabilitation facilities. President Tito visited the villa four times officially, while his wife, Jovanka, visited only once. Guests can explore areas where Tito and his associates held discussions, view films, and tour the apartments where Tito's guests and close companions stayed. The villa's most exclusive areas include Tito's and Jovanka's private apartments. Notably, the villa itself did not contain any furnishings; everything was brought from Belgrade for Tito's arrival and removed after his departure."
