"Bogotá, Colombia’s bustling capital, is often the go-to for international flights, but you can also find plenty of options flying in and out of Cartagena, which I’d recommend for its charm and proximity to the coast. Bogotá is full of culture and history, with highlights like La Candelaria, the Gold Museum, and Monserrate, but I decided to skip it this trip to spend more time soaking up the north coast. If you have the time, Bogotá is worth exploring, but for me, the coast was calling louder!"

The city sits in the Andean mountains at more than 2600m in elevation so make sure to take it slow the first couple days visiting for your body to adjust. "
