This is a map of all the places I went to on my 3 month backpacking trip. We flew into Bangkok then island hopped in south Thailand for 2 weeks before flying up to Chiang Mai to explore north Thailand for 2 weeks. Next stop was northern Laos for just over 2 weeks where we got the slow boat from Thailand to Luang Prabang. After Laos was an overnight bus to Hanoi in northern Vietnam where we worked our way down to the south over 3 weeks. Finally finishing in Cambodia for 3 weeks and then bus back to Bangkok to fly home. This map includes recommendations of things to do, places to stay and restaurant recommendations too. I have added in information about the visas, currency, how to get around and important tips and tricks we learnt along the way. You can fit in a lot less than you think when backpacking so this is a realistic map of what is achievable in 3 months. This amazing, penultimate 24-day itinerary was a #wanderlist celebration trip we planned and traveled, as it had always been a dream of ours to spend over 3-weeks touring an area of the world we had yet to experience so to try to gain a greater immersion into the culture. This itinerary can be customized and modifed as needed for your travel time, and you can even just focus on one country if you choose. As the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh is likely where you’ll arrive when flying in from most neighboring countries. Despite being the capital city, you can see the majority of the main sites over 2 days in Phnom Penh.
