"Børsen is a building located on Slotsholmen, in the center of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was built by Christian IV between 1619 and 1640 and is the oldest stock exchange in Denmark. It is especially known for its dragon spire, shaped like the intertwined tails of four dragons, which reaches a height of 56 meters.
Christian IV had aspirations to turn Copenhagen into a metropolis and strengthen the city's position as a commercial centre, for which he wanted a stock exchange alongside the new merchant city Christianshavn which he was building on the other side of the harbour. He asked Lorentz and Hans van Steenwinckel the Younger to design a Dutch Renaissance-style building with 40 small stalls on the ground floor and a large hall on the upper floor.
The building was restored by Nicolai Eigtved in 1745 and renovated internally in 1855. It housed the Danish Stock Exchange until 1974. In 1918, unemployed anarchists attacked Børsen, an event that went down in Danish history as "stormen på Børsen" (the storming of the bag)."

"The old Copenhagen Stock Exchange was built in the 1620s, also under King Christian the 4th. If you notice the spire, which consists of four intertwining dragon tails and the three crowns at the top of their tails. They symbolize the three Scandinavian countries: Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The three crowns are also repeated on the tower of Christiansborg - and represents the Kalmar Union, which lasted for 150 years as an alliance against German expansion."

"Børsen showcases Dutch Renaissance architecture with its distinctive spire and ornate facade. Built in the 17th century, it served as a stock exchange and remains an iconic landmark today. Notice the animal on the tower? The danish king ordered a crocodile, but since neither the king nor the architect had seen one in real life, it now looks like this. Which creature do you see?"
