Museum of Spirits

"The Museum of Spirits (Spritmuseum) is located on Djurgården in Stockholm, Sweden, and offers an engaging exploration of the country's wine and spirit history, as well as the production of alcohol. The museum features both permanent and temporary exhibitions that showcase historical production and bottling equipment, vintage labels from Swedish wines and spirits, and exhibits on Swedish drinking habits and cultural practices. Among its highlights is the interactive exhibition titled "Sweden: Spirits of a Nation," which provides a comprehensive overview of the nation’s beverage culture. Originally opened as the Wine & Spirit Historical Museum in 1967, the museum was located in the Grönstedtska palace in Vasastaden, Stockholm, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the state-owned company AB Vin & Sprit. In 2012, the museum relocated to a larger space of 2,000 square meters in the Galärskjulen at Djurgården, allowing for more extensive displays. One of the museum's unique features is its function as an art gallery, housing the renowned Absolut Art Collection, which includes 850 pieces created by famous artists like Andy Warhol, all commissioned for Absolut Vodka since 1986. This collection is showcased through annual thematic exhibitions. Additionally, in 2014, a restaurant was opened at the museum by Petter Nisson, who previously managed a celebrated neo-bistro in Paris, further enhancing the visitor experience."
