"If you are looking for a more authentic Virginia Beach experience with fewer tourists, then Chesapeake Beach is going to be a great beach to come with your dog! People who live in the area commonly call this beach as "Chic's Beach."
Chic's Beach is arguably the best beach in Virginia Beach as it is less crowded and touristy than Oceanfront. Take a look at the map and you will notice that many of the dining options that I recommend are located in this part of Virginia Beach too.
During the summer season, Memorial Day-Labor Day, dogs are only allowed on this beach before 10 am and after 6 pm. Throughout the rest of the year, dogs are allowed on the beach at any time.
Keep in mind that dogs are only allowed to be off leash when they are under a reliable voice command/recall of the owner. If your dog is unable to be off leash without reliable recall or disturbs others at the beach, then they must be on a leash at all times. Additionally, you must always carry poop bags to pick up and discard of your dog's poop. "
