Magnetic Island

"Magnetic Island is such a magical place filled with beautiful views, koalas, wallabies, and Barbie Cars. Yes, you heard that right. When heading to Magnetic Island, the main thing you do while there is rent an open-air car and drive around the island. It’s a small place so you can do everything you need to in a day therefore, 2 nights would be perfect here. I stayed for 3 but it wasn’t necessary. While here, I stayed at Nomads x Base Hostel and thought it was pretty decent. There’s a Selina on the island that is way more central but the Nomads has a view of the ocean so pick your poison. There is also a restaurant and bar attached so if you don’t feel like walking half an hour into town, you can just snag food there. One thing to note though, there’s limited cell reception and the wifi doesn’t reach the rooms so if you are staying there, have some things downloaded on your phone. To get to Magnetic Island, you take the bus to Townsville and then take the ferry from there. A bunch of us on the ferry realized we were going to the same hostel and we split the price of a cab to get there. You could walk it but it’ll take you about half an hour. The main sights to see and do on Magnetic Island are; -Forts Walk (this is where there are tons of wild koalas. Supposedly has a great view at the top but it was raining the day I went) -Rock Wallaby (stop by the store and grab some carrots to feed the wallabies) -Bungalow Bay Koala Village -Snorkel -Hawkins Point "
