What people say

"In the heart of Sacromonte is a museum that showcases the life and traditions of the inhabitants of the caves of this neighborhood for over a hundred years. The recreation of ten caves allows you to see the development of its first inhabitants, mainly gypsies and Muslims, through the exhibition of everyday utensils. The museum exhibits lamps, ceramic vases, stoves and looms. The inhabitants of the Sacromonte caves dedicated themselves mostly to making baskets, pottery, iron utensils and other crafts. During the visit to the Sacromonte Caves Museum you can enter a cave-dwelling, a cave-kitchen and a cave-stable. In addition, the museum covers the origins of Sacromonte from when gypsy and Muslim communities began to inhabit it in the 16th century to the present day. Thanks to the mixture of cultures that proliferated in this neighborhood, flamenco was shaped, an art to which the museum also dedicates a space."

" In this gipsy neighborhood, you will find several troglodyte homes also called “cuevas“. Nowadays, most of them host flamenco dance shows. You can learn more about the history of this neighborhood and the cuevas at the Cuevas del Sacromonte museum. One of the best Flamenco shows in Granada has to be la Canastera “The Cave”. Steeped in history, the cave was once the home of Maria and her family, by night tourists would come to the cave to witness Maria perform her unique and mesmerizing Flamenco. Preserved in its original features by Maria’s son, the cave is still home to the best Flamenco show for miles around and now features 7 artists performing singing, dance and guitar."

"Perched next to the charming Albaicín district, the Sacramento Caves Museum showcases the life of the Roma community that lived on the outskirts of the city of Granada. Step inside traditional cave houses, learn about the origins of flamenco and enjoy incredible views of the Alhambra. Just be prepared for an uphill climb - and if you are visiting in the summer avoid visiting during the hottest part of the day. Allow about an hour to complete the visit. Entrance - 5 euros "
