What people say

"The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous monuments in Paris. The Triumphal Arch is in honor of those who fought for France (and in particular, those who fought during the Napoleonic wars). There are inscriptions in the ground underneath the vault of the arch which include the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I where the Memorial Flame burns. The Arc de Triomphe is a patriotic site. "The Arc de Triomphe was build in the beginning of the 19th century. It was build in honour of Napoleon and his victory at Austerlitz. The Arc de Triomphe is now best known as a memorial site of the First World War. Because a monument has been built under the arch. The price of an entrance ticket to the monument at Place Charles de Gaulle is 13 euros. The visit is free if certain conditions are met: -18 years old, 18-25 years EU and permanent resident outside the EU, unemployed, disabled and accompanying. I recommend visiting at opening (to avoid lines) or in the evening for sunset. "
