What people say

"Chester Beatty was an avid collector of antiquities. By far, his favorite artifacts were ancient religious manuscripts. The collection of historical sacred writings fills an entire floor of the Chester Beatty museum in Dublin. Much of the collection comes from the Middle East and Northern Africa, including some of the oldest known portions of Judeo-Christian scriptures: Coptic Egyptian manuscripts written on papyrus including sections of Isaiah and Revelation. The collection is grouped by major world religions and provides remarkable commentary on the tenants of each faith. While this was my favorite section of the museum, it represents only a fraction of the full collection. I highly recommend taking your time to explore every floor, including the cafe and gardens."

"Established in 1950 this museum & library showcases collections from Sir Alfred Chester Beatty, who was an American mining lord. Free to enter, you’ll be able to see what the Lonely Planet described as not only the best museum in Dublin, but one of the best in all of Europe."
