Bars
Sharkey’s is legendary among VT students, known affectionately as the place “where good friends go.” Happy hour is daily from 4-9PM.
Known as TOTS, this bar is a must-see to pose in front of the neon VT flag and grab a rail from the bar if you’re feeling brave.
Hokie House is an upstairs bar with a laid back and casual atmosphere. It can get rowdy later at night, with plenty of pool tables and dartboards to choose from.
Champs is the perfect sports bar to watch games for any sport they broadcast on television.
Outdoor Activities
A 2.5 mile out-and-back hike with a gorgeous water fall and swimming hole along the way. Must pay for parking, but hiking boots are not required.
Mountain Lake Lodge might look familiar if you’ve ever seen Dirty Dancing. The hotel is also the starting point for the short but steep Bald Knob trail that ends in sweeping mountain views.
Only a short drive down I-81 South, Claytor Lake has a large sandy beach and designated swimming areas.
