Long Weekend in Munich

After checking in and dropping off your bags, make your way to Marienplatz, the main center of Munich!

Munich is one of my favorite cities with so many things to do, rich history, and traditional Bavarian culture! I hope you love it as much as I do. Prost!

Right next to the Glockenspiel, climb to the top of St. Peter's Church tower for an amazing lookout. Its free to enter the church but 5 euros to climb the tower.

Next, cross the street to the farmer's market of Munich, Viktualienmarkt and stop for lunch at the soup kitchen.

All the soups are great, but the Potato Soup is my favorite!

Next, make your way around the city for a tour of all the beautiful churches. Here are a few of my favorites:

After making your way to the Theatine Church, explore the historical Odeonsplatz. This square was crucial during the Nazi regime. Behind the Feldherrnhalle you can find a path of golden bricks which mark the path taken by the Nazi resistance.

Finish the night with dinner at Hofbräuhaus, the most famous beer hall in Munich!

If you plan to return, carve your name into the wooden table!

The next morning, take a tour of the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial. Dachau was the first concentration camp used by the Nazis and the longest in operation. Tour guides are required to be licensed to host tours here and I highly recommend using one.

When you return to the city, explore the shops at Funf Hofe with a stop into Alexa von Harder for a cappuccino and sweet treat.

Here are some of my recommendations for dinner:

You can't leave Munich without eating a traditional Bavarian breakfast of weisswurst (white sausage)! Don't forget to remove the casings when you eat them.

On your last day, travel just outside the city for a tour of Nymphenburg Palace and the grounds.
