Welcome to an exciting journey through the world of aromas and flavors in Santiago!
My guide to places with specialty coffee introduces carefully selected coffee shops that I have personally vetted. Here, you'll find not only excellent coffee but also friendly staff. I believe that a cup of quality coffee is the key to a successful day, so I invite you to immerse yourself in the world of invigorating beverages.
All chosen coffee shops are located in safe neighborhoods, easily accessible by walking, metro, or taxi. Get ready for a true coffee adventure in the capital of Chile!
1. The Elephant Coffee
A wonderful place to enjoy coffee in the shade even on a hot day. My choice: a large latte and delicious pastries and sweets.
2. Cafe Altura MUT
This is a network of small coffee shops in central areas of Santiago. My favorite branch is in MUT. Plan to visit Mercado Urbano Tobala, and right at the entrance, grab a cup of delicious coffee. It's at Altura that I've bought coffee beans several times to brew at home.
I visited another one of their locations near Manuel Montt metro station.
3. We are four
Another urban coffee chain worth checking out. The latte here is quite strong for me, so I usually go for a cappuccino. This coffee shop near Tobalaba metro station has a fairly relaxed atmosphere if you need to meet someone and have a chat.
4. Bemvindo Cafe
Make sure to include Barrio Italia in your Santiago exploration plan. There's excellent coffee there too, for instance, at Bemvindo cafe. It offers one of the most pleasant combinations of price and coffee quality among all specialty coffee shops.
5. Rustic
This is my second favorite spot on Avenida Italia. You can sit on the outdoor terrace, but I prefer their atmospheric interior gallery. It's true rustic charm! I also go for a cappuccino here; the latte feels a bit too large for me.
If you're feeling hungry, order the avocado 🥑 sandwiches – they have several variations, and they are delicious.
6. 3841 Coffee Roasters
It's an excellent choice to grab specialty coffee to-go while strolling through the atmospheric Barrio Lastarria. There are a few tables inside if you decide to take a break. And a lovely view from the window if the counter is available.
7. La Huérfana
To reach this coffee shop, you need to visit Palacio Perreira. The entrance is entirely free, but aesthetic pleasure is guaranteed. They have beautifully crafted handmade ceramic coffee cups in this place.
8. Coockie lab
Primarily, this place is renowned for its handmade cookies! However, the coffee is equally impressive, making it a must-visit spot in the guide. So, if you have a sweet tooth, this is the place for you.
Bonus place:
The coffee
I didn’t visit this cafe in Santiago, but it was one of the best coffee places in São Paulo, where I spent several days between flights. So it is definitely recommended.
Concluding our journey through Santiago's coffee spots, I invite you to explore my other travel guides and seek consultation to discover even more amazing places.
May your adventures in this city be filled with flavors and aromas. Wishing you fantastic travels!
