Broughton Island

Less than 3 hours North of Sydney along the Barrington Coast and less then an hour from Port Stephens, is a stunning island no one has ever head of called Broughton Island. which is part of the absolutely stunning Myall Lakes National Park.

The Barrington Coast you may have seen in photos thinking it is in the Mediterranean or off the Hawaii Coast or in Western Australia and never realized how close it is to Sydney.  These beautiful turquoise waters are available for you to do some remote camping, with on 5 campsite available and the only place in NSW where you can camp among an active seabird colony... until you find out that with no cars allowed on the island, Broughton Island is only accessible by a $1200 return boat. Staying at the Broughton Island Campground is really all about getting back to basics with no power, no water, and non-flush toilets available at the Broughton Island Campground.

Port Stephens does offer more afforable accommodation options and you can visit Broughton Island for the day on a $120 day trip on Broughton Island National Park Full-Day Cruise, that only run twice a week (Wednesday and Sundays). Booking is essentials and subject to change.

To camp at Broughton Island Campground, it is only $44/night, but access to the campgrounds is only available by boat, which will cost you $600/trip each way Let's Go Adventures or Imagine Cruises.
