Long Weekend in Mexico City Itinerary!
Tips before you go..
1. Most places in Mexico City accept credit card, but I would recommend carrying about 100 USD in Pesos for certain activities/shopping where cash is required. And yes, you will need Pesos. USD is not accepted in Mexico City as it may be in other tourist areas of Mexico such as Cabo or Tulum.
2. If you plan to exchange USD for Pesos when arriving to the Mexico City Airport, wait until you leave baggage claim to find a currency exchange. The ones inside baggage claim have a much higher exchange rate.
3. Take Ubers. Uber is extremely cheap in Mexico City (we're talking like $1 USD for a trip) and they are the safest way to get around.
4. Make restaurant and activity reservations in advance and purchase entry tickets before your trip. Popular attractions in Mexico City like the Frida Kahlo Museum and Casa Gilardi book up fast and may sell out if you don't reserve in advance.
Day 1: Mexico City
Since this is the day you arrive, you will have a later start to the day and most likely want to check into your hotel to freshen up before you start exploring.
I recommend staying in the areas of Roma Norte or Condessa as they are in the heart of everything you'll want to do on your trip and walking distance to the best bars, restaurants, and shopping in Mexico City. During my trip, I stayed at NaNa Vida in Roma Norte and could not recommend it more! Everything was perfect and the staff really went above and beyond.
