Camino del Rey-Important things to know
where is it
βοΈEverything You Need to Know Before You GoβοΈ
Caminito del Rey had been on my bucket list for way too long, and let me tell you β it was 100% worth it! π€© But before you embark on this thrilling adventure, there are a few things you absolutely need to know to make the most of your trip.
How to Get There ππ
Caminito del Rey is accessible by public transport, but be prepared for a long day. You'll need to take a train to El Chorro and then hop on a bus to the starting point. If you want more flexibility, I highly recommend going by car or joining a tour.

π Driving? GET THERE EARLY! Likeβ¦ 7:00 β 7:30 AM early! Here's why:
π Parking #1 β Small & free (3-5 cars) at El Kiosko Bar β 20 min walk to the tunnel.

π Parking #2 β Best option! Right across the tunnel β β¬2 for the whole day β Just a 3-minute walk!

π Parking #3 β Official Caminito del Rey parking (pre-booked with tickets) β Farthest from the entrance β You'll need to take a bus (paid separately) or walk 50 minutes to the tunnel.

Tickets ποΈ β BUY IN ADVANCE!
And I mean months in advance! π³ We visited in mid-February and booked tickets in December. By then, only guided tours were available β no individual entrance tickets left!
π° Price: β¬39 for 2 people on a guided tour β and honestly, worth every cent! Our guide was amazing, full of cool stories and history.
π No tickets available? Try GetYourGuide β they have reserved slots even when the official website is sold out! You can book via link below and use petrahus10 for a discount.
Getting to the Entrance ποΈ
Once you've parked, you need to walk through a tunnel before reaching the actual entrance. Then, it's another 2 km walk (about 30 min), so arrive at least an hour before your time slot! If you're late, you wonβt be allowed in because of strict visitor limits.

Safety & What to Expect ποΈ
π Whether you're on a guided tour or solo, you'll receive a helmet and safety instructions before starting.
π Youβll be walking along narrow bridges and boardwalks suspended on a cliff β this is not for those afraid of heights! π¬
π The actual Caminito del Rey path is around 3 km long, with breathtaking views at every turn.

Here is the trail from the entrance to the bus:
What Happens After the Tour? πΆββοΈ
Keep in mind β this is a one-way hike! Once you reach the end, you'll need to walk another 3 km to the bus station.
π» β ποΈ Whatβs at the exit?
π After about 1 km of walking, youβll find a rest area with souvenirs, bathrooms, coffee, and snacks β a perfect spot to recharge.

π Getting back:
π The bus runs every 30 minutes and stops at all three parking areas.
π π° Bus ticket price: β¬2.50 (February 2025) β buy it at the small kiosk next to the bus stop.
