Exploring the Beauty of Soller and Santanyi, Mallorca

During our stay in Soller, we chose to indulge in the charm of **Hotel Salvia**, a secluded adults-only bed and breakfast with just seven unique rooms. Each room has its own character, and we were fortunate to stay in room 5. The couple running the hotel is incredibly welcoming, making our stay all the more enjoyable. The only downside? Parking is about half a mile uphill from the hotel, which can be a bit of a hassle. However, the location is perfect for exploring the carfree town, making it well worth it.

If you're planning to explore other parts of the island, a car is an absolute must! We rented from **Wiber Rent a Car** and highly recommend opting for an automatic transmission and the smallest car possible. Trust us— the roads in the **Soller** and **Deia** area are narrow with many switchbacks, making driving a challenge.

While in **Soller**, don’t miss the vibrant town square, especially on weekends when the market is bustling. There are countless charming shops and gelato spots to discover. A train ride to **Port de Soller** is a must-do; the cute beach town is a delightful excursion. If you have time, take a day trip to **Deia**. We spent our day at **Cala Deia**—arrive early around 10:30/11:00 for parking—enjoying lunch at the Instagram-famous **Ca’n Patro March** before exploring the town for shopping and dinner. **Valldemossa** is also nearby, but we skipped it due to the winding roads.

- **Coffee/Breakfast**: While we enjoyed breakfast at the hotel, we couldn’t resist stopping at **Forn Es Pa Pages** for their delicious pastries—definitely try the chocolate croissant and almond cake.

  - **Deia**: **Ca’n Patro March**, **La Residencia Hotel (El Olivo)**, **Restaurant Nama**

  - **Soller**: **Villa Luisa (Port de Soller)**, **La Romaguera**, **El Petit Heladaria**

**Soller** is even more stunning in person than in photos! You could easily spend 2-3 full days exploring this side of the island, especially with a day trip to **Deia**—a must-do! We recommend staying in **Soller** rather than **Port de Soller**, which can get overly touristy.

We drove north to **Soller** to check into **Hotel Salvia**. The roads were indeed narrow and winding! 

Our first stop was **Cala Deia**, arriving around 11:30. We were lucky to find parking and enjoyed a 10-minute walk to the beach. Lunch at **Ca’n Patro March** was a bit of a wait without a reservation, but the views made it worthwhile. The beach was beautiful and surprisingly uncrowded.

After lunch, we drove 10 minutes to **Deia** and found street parking. Pro tip: visit after 5 PM when the town clears up! We enjoyed a spicy margarita and the incredible homemade cake at the bar in **La Residencia**. 

We strolled through the charming shops and had dinner at **Nama** at 6 PM. Make a reservation! We were seated outside, and the experience was a 10/10!

After a restful night, we enjoyed a homemade breakfast at the hotel before heading into town for the **Soller** market. The town was bustling, filled with vendors and locals. We grabbed a “**Soller Bomb**” gelato from **El Petit Heladeria**—a must-try!

Next, we hopped on the tram from **Soller** to **Port de Soller**. The ride was 25 minutes of scenic beauty, and we recommend sitting on the left side for the best views. Upon arrival, we relaxed at **Platja des Traves**, where the beach was less crowded than expected.

Lunch at **Villa Luisa** was delightful, featuring sangria and homemade pasta with clams while overlooking the ocean. The town had plenty of shops and gelato spots to explore.

In the evening, we found a table in the town square for pre-dinner drinks while enjoying local choirs. Dinner at **La Romaguera** was fantastic, with tapas that we can’t recommend enough—especially the **La vaca coca** and lamb tacos.

In **Santanyi**, we stayed at **Can Ferretta**, a small, two Michelin-star hotel. The property is breathtaking and definitely worth the splurge—one of my favorite hotels ever!

Parking can be a challenge, as the hotel does not have designated spots. We were fortunate to find a nearby spot after returning from the beach, thanks to the helpful concierge.

The **Plaza Major** is charming, lined with tapas restaurants and boutiques. Make sure to wake up early to visit **Cala S’Almonia** and **Cala Moro**, both stunning beaches! **Monragon Natural Park** and **Cala Mondrago** are also nearby.

- **Breakfast**: We enjoyed breakfast at the hotel, but **Terraorigens** has some cute bakeries worth visiting.

- **Restaurants**: **La Fresca**, **Ocre**, **Amazonique**, **Laudat**

If time is limited, consider a boat trip on this side of the island or a day trip. While parking can be tricky, the water is breathtaking. **Santanyi** is pricier than **Soller** (with lots of German influence), but it’s a smaller, quieter gem.

We took a leisurely morning in **Soller**, doing some last-minute shopping and enjoying coffee in the hotel’s garden. 

The drive to **Santanyi** took less than 1.5 hours. After checking into **Can Ferretta**, we enjoyed lunch at the pool restaurant, which was exclusive to hotel guests. The spa amenities were a lovely bonus!

Dinner at **Amazonique** was a highlight, featuring fish strips, shared fish, and banana dessert—everything was delicious! 

After a morning workout, we relished another delightful breakfast at the hotel. We drove to **Cala S’Almonia** and **Cala Moro**, arriving by 10:15. It’s crucial to get there early as parking fills up fast!

The walk down to **Cala S’Almonia** involves numerous steps, but the cliffs and scenery are worth it. We then walked to **Cala Moro**, where the water was the bluest I’ve ever seen!

We attempted to visit **Cala Llombards** later but found it overcrowded. Instead, we returned to our hotel pool to unwind before heading to **Plaza Major** for ice cream.

For dinner, we relaxed poolside, indulging in pizza and soaking in the beautiful atmosphere of **Can Ferretta**.

With its stunning landscapes, charming towns, and delightful cuisine, **Mallorca** is a treasure waiting to be explored!
