Durres

Wave Beachfront Apartments
@planformedani
We loved staying here! The view was INCREDIBLE and it was so nice to sip coffee out here in the morning and wine at happy hour. The brothers running this place were so extremely kind and helpful and gave us great recs for the area! It was very clean! Only minor issue was the AC was in the main living area and the bedroom didn't get super cold. But we were comfortable and happy for one night here and the view made it worth it!

I can't say enough about how much we loved this hotel. First of all : book a sea view room. The view is just stunning. Second of all: make sure you eat here! The food was incredible we had a lunch and a dinner here besides having the most AMAZING breakfast every day. The family that runs this place is just beyond words. They are SO KIND, so thoughtful, so welcoming, we wished we could have stayed here longer and this was the longest stay of our trip! The room was clean and bright and beautiful, the shower was great, the AC worked great. This place was 11/10!!! Perfection!

Ksamil

Hotel Mira Mare
@planformedani
A beautiful place to stay in Ksamil. We were there during high season so I think it's also a plus that this hotel is a little bit away from things and a bit quieter. The couple who runs the place was so kind and thoughtful. The terrace is the highlight! We ate the most wonderful breakfast up here and also had happy hour drinks overlooking Ksamil. The room was clean and bright and had a balcony to hang out on. Overall we loved our stay here and would recommend it! They also had an actual small parking lot which is pretty unheard of in Albania and we were super thankful for!

Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort
@planformedani
My sister got married here on the private island and we loved this hotel and experience. It was very cool to take the boat out to the island to hang on the incredible beach and visit the flamingos. You often see this on instagram but beyond the flamingos the island is truly stunning and so peaceful and fun. There are also some great restaurant's in the area that we really enjoyed.

Abu Dhabi

Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri
@planformedani
This hotel was amazing! It was beautiful and comfortable and clean and had its own private beach. Obviously in this area of the world you need to be conscious of attire and your actions and alcohol etc. This hotel was a great place to feel comfortable and unwind without worrying about anything. It was a great place to relax in the mid day heat and it was easy to get to the main sites of Abu Dhabi later in the day.

This was a perfect hotel right outside of the hustle of the main town. I imagine if you're in the main area it gets a bit noisy. The breakfast was great and our room was clean and comfortable. The dining area also had great views over the river and was a really pretty place to chill out when not visiting town or Angor Wat.

This was a very nice hotel in Puerto Natales right on the water. It was a great place to stay leading up to our hike. We had Christmas Eve dinner here and LOVED it! We stayed here after 4 days hiking in Patagonia and it was the BEST. Seriously one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. So cute and charming and they were so kind. They held our extra luggage for the days we were in the National Parking hiking and they helped us check in and out late and early! We were also very happy with the restaurant next door "El Brisket".

Truly one of my favorite places we've ever stayed. The hotel is "wine" themed and owned by a sommelier and wine maker. The rooftop bar is fantastic with views all over the city. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming and gave us great advice and kept us safe during our time here. I loved this hotel. We also went here on New Years Eve which is a great experience. Cartagena

We traveled here with friends and this was an amazing place to all share.  It was in a PERFECT location and was walkable to everything.  We spent a ton of time hanging out up on the rooftop.  We also had a "house keeper" who came in and made us breakfast each morning and cleaned up around the place.  It was an amazing perk.  I highly recommend this airbnb.

Another one of my favorite places I've ever stayed. This is not just a hotel but a whole experience. This place has endless trails with incredible volcano views and SO MUCH wildlife. We saw amazing animals every day here. It has a pool and hot tub area and you can see the volcano from almost anywhere. The lodge has great food and drinks and is a great place to hang out in the evenings. It's also really close to La Fortuna town. The lodge will also help you organize any activities you want to do while in this area.

Dominical

Hotel Villas Río Mar
@planformedani
We loved staying in our little Villa here. The pool area was really nice, we even played some tennis one day. You did have to drive up a long gravel road to get here so I would recommend a vehicle with 4 wheel drive if you're going to stay here. But we really liked the spot and the quiet beauty and all of the beautiful plants. There also was quite a bit of land to walk around and we enjoyed hanging by the pool.

This place was perfect. It was walkable to the lakes, in the most charming little neighborhood, and walkable to a nice little neighborhood restaurant too!

Split

This was a perfect stop for our road trip.  It was right outside the old town but within walking distance, within walking distance to beaches.  It had such a nice little garden area where we could sit for coffee in the morning and drinks in the afternoon.  The host was SUPER nice and kind as well.

Korcula

The host here was so nice and hospitable.  We loved the outdoor area we had where we could sit out overlooking the bay for drinks.  We also loved the proximity to town and to anything we really needed.

Dubrovnik

This was a nice spot outside of the old town.  We were able to walk to some very cool and local beaches and it was more of a local than touristy area.  We took taxis and ubers into town very easily and it was near the port for our boat day as well.  It was clean and large and we loved the balcony.

Estonia

Tallin

One of the best airbnb we've ever stayed in.  This place had a large garden that was a Champagne/Wine Speakeasy.  It was just open sometimes and when it was the door was open.  The A frame tiny house was perfect for us and so cozy.  We loved the location and we would definitely stay here again if we were to come back.

This was a great airbnb in a great location.  It was comfortable and had a nice balcony.  With two couples it is always nice to have 2 bathrooms.  It was also right above the bakery owned by the family and we enjoyed getting treats and coffee each morning.

This is a great option if you are flying late or early. The hotel was really nice and clean and comfortable. We stayed here on a layover between Athens and Milos. Although the train to the Athens airport was honestly a breeze and super clean!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
My name is Danielle and I have been planning trips for the past 10 years. One thing special and unique about my guides is that I am not producing guides that I didn't currently use myself. The places in my guides are places I have been, the itineraries are itineraries that I have personally followed. Everything is real and I have vetted myself. My travel planning story started with a honeymoon to Italy and since then it has grown each and every year. I love all kinds of travel! It's hard to fine a niche because I fit into so many categories. I love nature, hiking, and being outdoors. I love beaches and sunsets and sipping wine and cocktails in pretty places. I love learning about people and cultures and history. I love street art and busy cities and I also love small towns and quieter places. I will sleep in a hostel and I enjoy a beautiful hotel. I love South and Central America and I am obsessed with Europe. I've been to Asia twice and hope to get back in the next few years. I love to eat and one thing you'll always get from me are true and great reviews of places that I've personally eaten! I have just returned from Albania and I am working on guides from that trip! My full time job is as a School Leader of Social and Emotional Learning in Philadelphia. All my travel is done on school breaks and in the summer. I have still managed to visit over 36 countries and countless cities along the way. Being a teacher my whole life is about planning and I do believe I am exceptional at it. I work VERY hard to plan incredible trips and now you can hopefully benefit from that as well!
