Thrifty Delights: Exploring Vilnius on a 3-Day Getaway
Konstantina Kalogeropoulou
Vilnius, Lithuania's capital, is a captivating tapestry of architectural styles that reflect its diverse history. From the grandeur of Baroque and Gothic masterpieces to the intricate details of Renaissance facades, the city showcases a rich blend of influences. The medieval charm of the Old Town stands alongside Neoclassical elegance, while the Art Nouveau gems evoke a sense of artistic innovation. Soviet-era structures offer a glimpse into a different era. This architectural mosaic not only tells the story of Vilnius's past but also creates an enchanting urban landscape where history and innovation coexist harmoniously.

For my solo adventure, I set off from Warsaw, Poland's bustling capital, on a night Flixbus (around €25), arriving in Vilnius with the morning sun. My base was Hostel 25hh, snugly tucked within the historic old city. Affordable at €50 for two nights, this clean and cozy haven comes highly recommended. One of Vilnius's delightful quirks is that you can explore without a worry, for everything, especially when you're located near the old city, is a charming stroll away. Public transport? Not necessary amidst this picturesque treasure trove.
Some useful words to use during the trip:
Ačiū [Atsu] - Thank you
Labas rytas - Goodmorning
Sveiki - Hello
į mūsų sveikatą [ Isnikata ] - Cheers
Atsiprašau [ Atsiproso ] - I’m sorry
