Southern Iceland Photo Spots
Pro Tips for Great Pictures
Iceland has particular weather conditions, so you should have some things in mind to shoot the best pictures:
Chase the Sun
A photo depends not only on the right place but also the right light. The weather changes by the hour in Iceland, so forget about fixed routes if you don’t want to take photos in the rain. Be open to adapt and follow the weather. Instead of sticking to a plan, it makes sense to head to an area (e g. the Southeast on my map) and then just look at the sky and drive towards the sun, the rainbow or any interesting clouds and find the closest spot. You’ll take better pictures on a zigzag trip!

Protect Your Equipment
Even if you try to get away from the rain, be prepared: You will get wet sometimes, and so will your photo equipment. Wet and possibly muddy. Bring a cleaning kit for your sensor, and if your camera isn’t waterproof, bring a cover. The wind will get everything dirty. Be careful when you change the lenses – if possible, do it in the car.
