Bali weekend 🌴
Our route starts near the Canggu area. If you live closer to the airport: Bukit, Sanur, Kuta, it makes sense to build a return route, replacing, for example, the overnight area.
Preparing for the trip.
What to take with you:
* warm clothes (the higher, the cooler);
* raincoat (in the mountains the weather is unpredictable);
* sunscreen (even if the weather is cloudy, protect your skin, it is strongly recommended to protect the back of the driver's hand and choose long-sleeved clothing);
* bathing suits, spare things, chargers, personal hygiene items and medicines you need.
It is better to start your trip from 8-9 in the morning, while it is still not very hot, and in order to have time to get to the overnight stop before sunset.
Don't forget to have breakfast before leaving. The choice of cafes for breakfast in Canggu and the surrounding area is extremely large! Even at this early time. I can't help mentioning the place where we have breakfast every day. Delicious sandwiches and coffee for breakfast can be found at Sandwichopedia. This cafe opens at 6 am, so you will be welcomed early in the morning.
You also need to feed your iron horse - fill the tank at the large Pertamina gas station. At such stations, it will be more profitable than at small private gasoline sales points.
And the last point - we did not have situations where it was not possible to pay by card. But for unforeseen situations, it is always better to have a small amount of cash. For example, for a trip together, you can have no more than 500,000 idr with you.
All right, you're ready. You can leave.
The first point on the map.
To this bridge from Sandwichopedia go plus / minus 1 hour. But this does not mean that there will be nothing interesting during this hour. The first part of the path will pass through the usual settlements, but then more and more beautiful views will accompany you. Look around and make stops. Rice fields, stepped reliefs, mountains in the background.
On the bridge (or in front of it) you can make a stop. Maybe it's getting colder and it's time to put on something. Be careful, people are coming up on the bridge offering to sell you your photos that they took while you were driving. Of course, if you really want to have one, then you can buy it. This is where your cash is needed. I do not know what quality these photos are, so I can not comment on this moment.
Do not worry that you need to make a stop right on the bridge. The movement is rare, you will not disturb anyone. Let's go further!
Second point on the map
But first, I will warn you again about the gorgeous views along the way. Here they will become even more exciting as you gradually gain altitude. By the way, if you are still caught in the rain (I hope you can do without it, because the fog hides many beauties), you don’t have to go and think “what if it ends now.” Stop immediately and put on your raincoats. It will be better if you have a rain jacket, rain pants and even rain covers for shoes in your arsenal.
Kintamani cafes are famous for their views. Even if you are not hungry, stop for coffee/tea and enjoy the scenery. They find everything on a cliff and a valley with Lake Batur and the mountain of the same name in the background will open up to your eyes.
By the way, Mount Batur is an active volcano and one of the sacred hills of the island.
My selection of cafes:
Where I was
* Akasa (good coffee)
* el lago (good rolls)
* Okuta (delicious tea, average desserts)
Which are marked, but have not yet visited it
* Paperhills
* Kintamani coffee - Eco bike coffee
* Mahen
* Montana
More and more cafes are opening, you can choose upon arrival.
There is a lookout (on the map - Mount Batur View Point), if you do not want to visit a cafe, the same view can be observed here.
We rested, warmed up and moved on.
Third point on the map
Next, I want to propose two developments for your route.
The first one is longer, more difficult (but captivating and includes views that you will only see if you deliberately drive into this area, which is unlikely since there is nothing else there, in my opinion).
Or the second - shorter, easier. But even if you choose the second route, I consider it necessary to capture one point on the map, just admire it and return back to the road to the hotel.
This is our third point.
It's just a point on the map, on the road from the northern coast of the island. But it offers breathtaking views of the valley with rice fields and a view of the Bali Sea.
If you chose the second option, you can skip the next item and go directly to the hotel.
First itinerary
In general, there will be several viewing points along the way, you will see them all yourself and you can stop and try.
If you get hungry, then in Amed there is a good Cafe People Point cafe. I ate there several times while staying in Amed. (Amed is a great diving spot)
Then you can follow straight to the hotel.
Hotel
Of course, accommodation must be booked in advance.
The hotel is quite popular, and weekends are best booked well in advance. But this is just my recommendation. In general, there are a huge number of hotels, villas, etc.
And if you went by the first route, then you can spend the night in Amed.
Palmterrace Bali is one of our favorite places. (available on all platforms - airbnb, booking, agoda)
Very nice cottages and great views! And if you are as crazy as me, then I recommend getting up early and watching the dawn. The pre-dawn fog over the tropical forest is painfully mesmerizing.
The food in their restaurant is average. Not bad, but not Changu's level either.
There is a massage but we haven't tried it so we don't know. But the massage place looks beautiful too!
And so, we relax, swim in the pool, soak in the bathroom (by the way, they have everything you need - brushes with toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo and hair balm, even hand cream, and everything from the brand of natural cosmetics Sensatia)
Way back
The return road goes through Denpasar. By the way, there are various popular tourist places near the hotel (Tirta Gangga Temple, Temple Of Penataran Agung Lempuyang). Oddly enough, I wasn't. But you can also include this in your itinerary on the second day. I just like the road - at some point, a wide highway begins. Places next to the ocean. Stops are welcome.
This is where our journey ended. In general, the route is quite exhausting. But the impressions will remain for a long time. Personally, we repeated this route more than once! Finding something new every time. By the way, and here the Flying Fox hangs at the entrance to the cafe (the food is not tasty).
Thank you for choosing my itinerary. Have a nice trip💛
