For the adventurous, an optional self-guided hike from Basilica di Superga to San Mauro is a must. The hike begins at the Basilica, which is a quick 22-minute taxi ride from the hotel, or you can take Bus 61/Tram 15 to the Funicular 79. The scenic 4-mile descent offers breathtaking views of the rolling hills.

Turin is accessible by various means.By Air: The city’s main airport, Turin Airport (TRN) – Caselle Airport, is located about 16 km from the city center. Or, you can fly to Milan’s airports (MXP, LIN, BGY) and reach Turin by train or bus in 1-2 hours.

By Train: High-speed trains offer direct connections from major Italian cities: Milan (1h), Florence (3h), Rome (4h), and Venice (4h).

By Car: Major highways connecting Turin include A4 (from Milan), A5 (from Aosta), A6 (from Liguria), and A21 (from Piacenza).

Head to dinner at Tre Galline, a traditional restaurant in Quadrilatero Romano district. Opt for the bagna cauda (a warm garlic and anchovy dip served with vegetables), brasato al Barolo (tender beef braised in Barolo wine, served over creamy mashed potatoes), and bollito misto (a classic boiled meat dish featuring a mix of beef, veal, and pork, often accompanied by flavorful sauces). 

Enjoy a light lunch at Caffè Mulassano, famous for its tramezzino (soft Italian sandwich, typically filled with ingredients like tuna, cheese, or vegetables). I opt for the mascarpone and truffle version, followed by Turin's signature drink, the Bicerin (layers of espresso, hot chocolate, and cream).

After stocking up on books, head to Baratti & Milano—Turin's oldest chocolatier, for a sweet snack, or Alberto Marchetti for Turin's best gelato.

The Museo Egizio in Turin is one of the most important Egyptian museums in the world, housing an extensive collection of artifacts from ancient Egypt. Located in a stunning 18th-century palace, the museum showcases over 30,000 pieces, including mummies, statues, sarcophagi, papyri, and everyday objects that provide a deep insight into ancient Egyptian culture, religion, and daily life.

Head to dinner at Al Gatto Nero — a classic, old-world restaurant with delicious pastas like tajarin, and fassona beef: served raw, seasoned with lemon and sea salt, or hot, wrapped in cabbage (dangerously good). The atmosphere here is quiet and romantic.

For a livelier, bustling atmosphere, Scannabue reigns supreme. The dishes are flawlessly executed, from the mouthwatering brasato al Barolo and agnolotti to the classic vitello tonnato. The wines are every bit as exceptional as the food. 

After lunch, take a short walk to Libreria Luxembourg— a charming independent bookstore known for its carefully curated selection of literature, art books, and vintage finds. A super cozy space for book lovers to explore.

In Piazza Castello, you’re lucky to find some of Turin’s best museums all in one place.

Palazzo Madama combines medieval and baroque architecture. It houses the Museo Civico d'Arte Antica, showcasing art and historical artifacts from Turin. It also hosts intriguing rotating exhibitions.

The Musei Reali (Royal Museums) includes the Royal Palace, the Royal Armoury, the Archaeological Museum, and the Galleria Sabauda, with its impressive collection of Renaissance and Baroque art.

The Cattedrale di San Giovanni Battista is a gorgeous church, home to the replica of the Holy Shroud. The real Shroud is kept in a special chamber in the Duomo, although it's covered.

Be sure to check if there are any opera performances happening at Teatro Regio during your visit — it's a fantastic spot to enjoy world-class music, stunning performances, and beautiful architecture.

The Holy Shroud is a centuries-old linen cloth that is believed by many to bear the image of Jesus Christ. The Shroud is famous for the faint imprint of a man’s body, showing signs of crucifixion, which some believe to be the image of Christ after his crucifixion. It is kept in the Cattedrale di San Giovanni Battista in Turin, where it is preserved in a special chamber, although it is rarely displayed to the public. The Shroud is an important religious artifact, attracting both believers and scholars who study its history and the mystery of its origins.
