Skadarlija
@suitcase_squirrell
Skadarlija Street is a pretty cobbled street about 400 metres long with cafes, restaurants and street performers. In Skadarlija Street, you can enjoy traditional Serbian cuisine and Serbian music from the early 20th century, taking you back to past times. I have many restaurant recommendations along here, some of which are mentioned in my guide, but a full list of options is detailed in my itinerary linked below.

The Temple of Saint Sava
@suitcase_squirrell
Saint Sava Temple (or Church) is one of the world's largest orthodox churches. With heights of 82 meters, the temple is one of the most breathtaking edifices in the city (and in my opinion, it is probably the most incredible church I have visited, and I have visited plenty across the world!). Depending on the timing of your visit, you can even get to witness a Serbian wedding!

Belgrade Fortress
@suitcase_squirrell
There is so much to explore here you will not be disappointed and what's more, it's free! The Kalemegdan Fortress is the most popular attraction in Serbia. It was built from the 2nd to the 18th century and sights include the Ruzica Church and the Nebojsa Tower. There are several viewpoints within Kalemegdan which give a breathtaking view of the Sava and Danube rivers. Inside the park you will also find a zoo, military museum, natural history museum and the Victor (Pobednik) Statute.

Novi Dvor
@suitcase_squirrell
Also known as the New Palace, this was a royal residence of the Karadordević dynasty of Serbia and later Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Today it is the seat of the President of Serbia. This Palace combines elements of the classical style, renaissance and is located in the center of the city. You will also find nearby the Old Palace, mentioned below.

Restaurant "Šešir moj" (Skadarlija)
@suitcase_squirrell
This restaurant is easy to recognise in the summer by the beautiful flowers at the entrance to the restaurant but also stands out in the winter with its famous gallery of paintings. It has a brilliant menu choice and the food is outstanding. Plus, you can listen to the old town music orchestra (and you may even be serenaded!). It has been rated by Britain's Independent and its guest list boasts many celebrities. Been warned that this is a very popular choice so I would recommend to book in advance.
