Ethiopic Restaurant
@wanderlustlys
If you do not go to Ethiopic you are depriving yourself of a culinary experience! The food is fantastic! Plenty of fresh meat dishes or vegetarian options. We had the vegetarian sampler with roasted fish and delectable lamb and our tastebuds were singing! Service is wonderful and their assortment of Ethiopian wines is impressive. Their honey mead is heavenly! A great price for the valuable! We gorged and spent $90 for 2! Highly recommend making a reservation. A brisk walk or quick Uber ride from union station.

Immigrant Food at the Planet Word Museum
@wanderlustlys
Boasted as the best happy hour in DC and for good reason! Nestled under the planet Word Museum, Immigrant food is a hidden gem that is not to be missed if you’re craving a little taste of eclectic cuisine. Happy hour on the weekends from 4-7 is the perfect time to pop in after a day of sight seeing. The cocktails were impeccable and extremely high quality for happy hour price. Their dim sum tower is a savory treat and as tapas fans we were highly impressed by their offerings. An easy stroll if staying in the city center or easily accessible by metro. Make a reservation or bar seating only.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe | Capitol Crossing
@wanderlustlys
Tatte is what cafes aspire to be! With fresh pastries, artisan sandwiches, and a extensive coffee bar menu, a meandering hour or two could easily be spent here before starting your day. Their menu was also very inclusive and many dairy and gluten free options were available. With locations all around the city, you are sure to find one within walking or a quick metro ride. We also grabbed a croissant and savory pastry as a midday snack, and we were so glad we did after hours of museum exploring! A great value! No reservations available and seating is limited/first come first serve.
