Iceland: Hot Springs

Iceland: Hot Springs

Everyone knows, Iceland has incredible hot springs with gorgeous views. There’s ones we’ve all seen, there’s ones that aren’t as well heard of. In this post, I’ll compare a few of the springs on the following factors: - Price - Accessibility - Amenities And of course, some other little need to know bits 💙

If you’re looking at visiting Iceland, and are sightly confused about which hot spring would suit you best, there’s a lot to take in.

Why are there so many?

Iceland is located over two tectonic plates (the land mass that basically makes our continents), half of it is North America, the other half is Europe.

Not only is this an absolute gorgeous ridge in the country, it means that there is a lot of volcanic activity. The water below the surface gets heated up, and thus, hot springs are born.

Isn’t it going to be cold?

No.

The hot springs are naturally heated, and are usually around 38 degrees. Perfectly good bikini weather.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hey! I'm Alison, and for the past few years, I've been lucky enough to travel (without breaking the bank)! I'm currently living in Jordan, in the middle of the desert, but have great knowledge of most of Europe, East Africa and South East Asia as well. A bit about my favourite places now, so I've visited Iceland every January for around the last seven years, and the country has such a special place in my heart! In a tie with Iceland is definitely the Middle East in general, but for a country, it's got to be Jordan. I've been here almost six months, and it's incredible. The desert on my door step, and the hospitality of the locals is hard to beat. Both Jordan and Iceland are truly like being on another planet. My travelling style varies, for me, I tend to go as budget as I can, however there are times that I will go mid range. Every now and then, I splurge out, and for a lot of work I have worked with luxury hotels. One thing to know about me, is I can't drive. So if you have a car, that's amazing, but if you don't that's fine. All of my work can be done with a car, but I will always have non drivers in mind. If you've got any questions, please let me know! Nothing is to small to ask, one of my friends recently went on her first trip abroad, and I talked her through it all, even reassured her that Spain has contactless.
