How to get to Cozumel?

Via Ferry! ⛴️ There are two ferry companies in Playa del Carmen to choose from: Ultramar and Winjet.

Both ferries operate every day, with a slight change in their itinerary depending on what time you want to arrive in Cozumel.

Ultramar = USD 35.73 round trip. - First ferry to depart from Playa del Carmen: 9:00 AM- Last ferry to depart from Cozumel: 8:00 PM

Winjet = USD 34.39 round trip.- First ferry to depart from Playa del Carmen: 8:00 AM- Last ferry to depart from Cozumel: 9:00 PM

Things to do in Cozumel

There are a lot of activities to do, from snorkeling on crystal clear water to going scuba diving. Depends on your budget. You can also rent a scooter (if you’re solo) or a car (if you’re in a group). It’s cheaper and more convenient than moving around taxis, they can charge up to $800 MXN, plus there’s no easy way to get one once you’re on the road.

Personal recommendations

If you’re on a budget, here’s the ideal plan for you to do in a day:

-Get to Cozumel by 9:00 or 10:00 AM.

-Rent a car at Calle 2 nte. It’s two blocks away from the ferry dock. You cross the street from the ferry, turn left and walk a block, on the first street you turn right and walk straight. You have to pass Scotiabank, after passing that street you keep walking straight until you see a green store, that’s the place I’ve rented cars before at a great price (sorry don’t know the name of the car rental place lol)

-Once you get the car, go pump gas and get ready to drive all the way to the beach club. (Remember you have until 7pm to return it)

-On google maps you type “Palancar Beach Club” | This beach club doesn’t charge for you to use their space, by just getting a drink you can get a table or just sit under a palm tree and enjoy the beach.

-The beach club has crystal clear waters where you can snorkel and watch corals and a lot of fishes.

-You can pack snacks and meals if you don’t want to spend money on food.

-If you do get food, the ticket is around $250-$500 pesos.

-The beach club closes at 5:00 pm. So you have 2 spare hours in the car. I recommend you go around the island, it will take 1 and half hours, just the right time to give away the car back to the store.

-Once you return your car. The store is around the corner of one of the most crowded streets, where you can find food, bars, ice cream and coffee shops.

-You can get dinner from local vendors around the main plaza and maybe watch the sunset at the Camellón.

-The sunsets in Cozumel are breathtaking.

-Take the last ferry back to Playa del Carmen.
