What to Do + Eat in Auckland, NZ (Kid friendly)
Getting Around
If you're in the CBD (central business district), walking, renting a scooter (Beam or Lime) and the bus are the best ways to get around.
To use Beam or Lime scooters, download the app and make sure your payment method is connected. The directions are self explanatory once you're in the app. Scooter is a fun way to get around and there are plenty of spacious bike lanes and wide side walks to ride on. Still, use appropriate caution.
The bus system in Auckland is pretty great. You can download the Auckland Transit app to find the bus schedule the easiest. You'll need to stop by the ferry building to grab an AT (Auckland Transit) Hop pass. It works on the ferry as well if you want to head to the North Shore for a visit to Devonport.
Beyond the city, I highly recommend traveling by car. Thrifty is a nice budget option to rent from if you need.
What to Eat
Auckland is an international city with plenty of delicious fare to taste. Make sure to grab a meat pie while you're here - it makes an excellent lunch on the go, though I love a breakfast egg and bacon pie too!
