🧐Aperitivo & Turin

Aperitivo is something special in every city of Italy, but in Torino, it's even more so. That's because we could say this is the birthplace of the aperitivo!

No, not of the famous Spritz, but of the practice of an Apertivo hour. It came about with the popularity of the Vermouth di Torino

Vermouth di Torino

Vermouth is simply a fortified wine, with a base of white wine and wormwood, then the addition of numerous herbs and spices. It was once used as a medicine, but the Torinese local Carpano decided to adjust the recipe, creating a drink that could be good for digestion, but also enjoyable in social events.

Vermouth was a hit, loved by the Royals and all the city. The practice of a Vermuttino hour quickly took off. Friends would gather to have a glass of vermouth with ice and an orange slice in the early evening, usually accompanying a few snacks
