Onsens in Japan

Japan has a huge culture of soaking in hot springs called onsens - this grew to be one of my absolute favorite parts of Japanese culture! During my time living there, I found myself visiting my local onsen at least twice a week (not kidding!). I found it to be the perfect way to spend alone time, relax, and fully reset.
Japan is home to over 25,000 onsens and it is deeply engrained into Japanese culture. It's not uncommon in Japan for friends, families, or couples to take weekend trips to visit an onsen and its surrounding areas. Known for healing properties, a way to decompress and rejuvenate, and an escape from busy city life - it's a must-try when in Japan!

Checking out an onsen while in Japan is one of our absolute favorite recommendations. This is a boujee onsen - but still so worth the price! Relax and unwind while soaking in these natural hot springs, overlooking the Minato Mirai area. You are also able to stay at this hotel during your time in Yokohama if you wish!
