Perfect FOODIE 3 Day-guide in Rome
DAY 1
Morning
Start your Roman adventure with a rich breakfast featuring a "Maritozzo," accompanied by a delightful cappuccino or classic espresso caffè. A Maritozzo is a soft, slightly sweet bun, sliced in the middle and filled with whipped cream. Alternatively, if you're not a fan of whipped cream, try the classic "Bombolone fritto", a spherical, yeast-leavened pastry, expertly fried to a golden hue and filled with a creamy, luscious filling of a custard-like cream, pistacchio or chocolate. This, too, is a beloved classic in Roman tradition.
From here walk for about 10 minutes to reach the impressive Colosseum, and take a second to admire the grandeur of this ancient amphitheater where epic battles and unforgettable performances once took place.
Lunch OPTION 1
Choose this option in case this day falls on either a Saturday or a Sunday:
Afterward, from here, head southeast through the captivating ruins of the Roman Forum, where the stories of ancient Rome come alive around you. As you exit the Roman Forum, make your way toward the sprawling Circus Maximus. This ancient chariot racing arena holds centuries of history within its vast expanse. Here follow the path that leads you around the perimeter of the Circus Maximus, until the end to the right. There you will find yourself on Via di San Gregorio, proceed on it, and in a short distance, you'll arrive at the entrance of the Campagna Amica Market, my personal favorite market.
