Best Food and Coffee Shops on Madeira Island

Two coffee places I would recommend both are speciality and the best tasting coffee. 

I will go into more details on how I feel about both to work at though below..

Coffee with a view and best tasting coffee 

This coffee spot is a specialty coffee spot right next to the famous Botanical garden and Monte Palace, this spot has a beautiful view of Funchal but warning! It’s up a crazy steep road so you’ll need a good car! 

Best specialty coffee shop with local vibe 

This was our spot! We came here everytime we would come to the co working in Funchal or everytime we happened to be in Funchal. 

The owners have a great story about the shop (you can hear full story in my Madeira Food and Coffee YouTube) 

The coffee is good (I love a good specialty coffee shop) and there’s a local nice vibe as well. 

It is kind of small and busy to work at but I did see people working the

With healthy vegan desserts, juices, specialty coffee, gelato, and homemade kombucha, craft beers, and homemade apple cider 

We worked at this co working all the time in Funchal. Overall the price, availability, space , and everything worked for us. 

So they made this into a co working but also it’s a resturant so depends the vibe you want. When the upstairs is open, it’s quiet with a beautiful view of the water. But if the upstairs is closed then you have to be blended with the resturant and it’s not the most quiet vibe. They also do nomad events here as well. 

This spot is local and that’s what makes it so special. The meat is fresh and so tasty and the prices are so good too! 

I don’t drink anymore but this poncha is the authentic drink in Madeira and so we had to at least taste it. This spot is known as the original spot to get Poncha so it’s a must right after you go to Casa de Pasto since it’s down the street. 

We came here after hiking one day and it was by far the most buttery perfect meat. We also LOVE the epic view and lastly you have to get the desserts! We were obsessed with the cheesecake and brownie here. 

Ok we lived here 5 months ok so we needed variety (so no judgment) :) as much as we absolutely loved the local food, we needed to switch it up sometimes. So we found this Indian and sushi restaurant and it quickly became a favorite. So much so that the staff knew us. Our fav was the chicken tikka masala, Mango curry, and of course the Naan. 

This is right next to the Indian above so you have to get the gelato here. It also has really good Italian as well if your in the mood for Italian. 

We lived here the longest during our time on Madeira so of course we tried so many places here. These were our favorites. 

This resturant has that home like special family feel to it. The owner and staff are so sweet and the meat skewers are really great here. 

This was our spot. We came here often as it was walkable to our place. We always got the pepper steak and the ravioli and sometimes whatever special they had. 

Another spot we would walk to often when we were craving something different. 

Omg I can’t tell you how obsessed I was! They don’t have a resturant but they will deliver or you can order online as well. SO fresh and the ingredients are so good! 

So I am not personally one to like fancy rooftop spots. If that’s your thing there definitely is fancier ones. But this one was sooo cute and perfect 

 i lived in Ponta Do Sol for a month here are my fav restaurants there 

Below these two places are the nomad hot spots. You’ll likely find other nomads or expats here though these two places have a local feel. The co working is across the way and both of these places offer specials daily. 

Right on the beach and the local  fish is so good

It’s a hotel but you can get coffee and they have a beautiful view we came here for morning coffee
