New Delhi is the capital of India and one of the most populous cities in the world. It is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city with a rich history and culture. New Delhi is home to a diverse range of people, religions, and languages.

The city is divided into two parts: Old Delhi and New Delhi. Old Delhi is the historic part of the city and is home to many of its most famous landmarks, including the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and Chandni Chowk. New Delhi is the modern part of the city and is home to many government buildings, embassies, and businesses.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Delhi is during the cooler, dry months from October to March. However, it is important to be aware that severe air pollution can be a problem during this time of year. Delhi has five distinct seasons:

Winter:

December and January can be cold at night, with temperatures dropping below freezing on occasion. However, daytime temperatures are generally mild, ranging from 61 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit (16 to 20 degrees Celsius).

Spring:

February and March bring glorious weather, with warm, sunny days and nighttime temperatures above 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius).

Summer:

April to June is the hottest time of year, with daytime temperatures consistently exceeding 105 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius). Humidity can also be high during this time of year.

Monsoon:

The southwest monsoon arrives in early July and transforms the weather from scorching to sticky. Expect patches of rain lasting up to a week, followed by a break for a day or two. The rain eases off in early September, but the weather remains uncomfortably hot and humid until the end of the month, when the monsoon withdraws.

Post-Monsoon:

Temperatures are pleasant during the post-monsoon season (October to December), but air quality can be a problem.

Air Quality in Delhi

Air pollution is a major problem in Delhi, especially during the winter months. The city is frequently blanketed in a thick smog that can be hazardous to health. If you are planning to visit Delhi during the winter months, it is important to be aware of the air quality and to take precautions to protect yourself. You may want to consider wearing a mask when outdoors, and avoiding strenuous activity.

Crowds in Delhi

Delhi is a crowded city at any time of year, but crowds can be particularly heavy during the weekends and during Indian holidays. If you are planning to visit Delhi during a busy time of year, it is best to book your accommodation and transportation in advance.

Upon Landing to New Delhi

Welcome to New Delhi, India! Your journey begins at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport), the city's primary international gateway. To ensure a seamless and stress-free transition from the airport to downtown New Delhi, Here are Transportation Options.

The express train takes about 20 minutes to reach the New Delhi Metro Station. If you prefer an economical and rapid journey, consider the Airport Metro Express. The metro station is conveniently located at Terminal 3 of the airport, offering a direct connection to New Delhi Railway Station, a central hub in the city. Trains run frequently, and the ride is comfortable with air conditioning.

♦️ Prepaid Taxi:

For a convenient and dependable option, head to the prepaid taxi counter located inside the airport terminal. Provide your destination, receive a receipt, and proceed to the designated taxi area. These prepaid taxis are regulated by the Delhi Traffic Police.

♦️ Taxi:

Taxis are available outside the airport terminal. Be sure to agree on a price with the driver before getting in.

♦️ App-Based Ride Services:

For flexibility, you can also opt for app-based ride services like Uber and Ola. Simply download the respective apps, book your ride, and follow the app's instructions for pickup.

✔️Be aware of your surroundings: Delhi is a generally safe city, but it is important to be aware of your surroundings, especially when traveling alone.

✔️Keep your valuables safe: Keep your valuables safe, such as your passport, money, and credit cards.

Money Exchange

The best place to exchange money in New Delhi depends on a number of factors, including the amount of money you are exchanging, the type of currency you are exchanging, and the time of day. However, in general, the following places are good options for exchanging money in New Delhi with a good rate:

Sim Card

Stay connected during your stay by purchasing a local SIM card. There are a few different providers that offer SIM cards at the airport, including Airtel, Vodafone, and Jio. The SIM cards typically come with a data plan, and you can also purchase additional data or call time as needed.

To buy a SIM card at the airport, you will need to provide your passport and a photo of yourself. The process is usually quick and easy. Once you have purchased your SIM card, you can activate it by following the instructions on the packaging.
