Things to do in Camiguin
I recently went to the Philippines and had the best time ever, seriously fell in love with the people and the culture. We visited two islands while there for ten days, Camiguin & Boracay (Malay). Both were so distinctive and similar at the same time of course. Below are some of the things we did and things I wish I knew beforehand. I didn’t partake in all of the activities, but within our group we did.
1. White Island, I put this one first because it was my absolute favorite part about being on this island. We had a big group so we reserved all together varias things including transportation. The only way to get to the White Island is from the Mambajao boat terminal. Get a ride there and pay for boat ride to and from, they only take cash!
When we arrived, I couldn’t believe how beautiful this was! It was literally so unreal, and the ride over was super cool too. As you start to get closer, you see the water change color and it’s so breath taking. This place is touristy, so as most places, the earlier the better. They also offer snorkeling gear at the terminal!
Things to bring if possible:
- Comfortable Shoes to walk around, there are a lot of shells washed up and it can feel rough on your feet.
- A Drone, i found some friends that had taken one but I didn’t have one in our group unfortunately. Such a regret!
- Lots of sunscreen, there is no where hide from the sun!
- Water, stay hydrated!
2. Tuasan Falls, a beautiful waterfall coming in from the nature side of this island. It’s completely free and super easy to walk up to, seriously.
This was a lot of fun as well but I didn’t get in the water because it was too cold for me!
Here is what to bring
- Your Camiguin entrance QR code, that is your way in
- A Towel, the water is cold so it’s a bit more uncomfortable air drying
- Cash, they sell snacks right at the entrance
3. Sunken Cemetery, This is a historical landmark, I couldnt go with the group unfortunately but they said it was well worth the trip! The cemetary was sunken in 1871 due to Mount Vulcan erupting!!
4. Ardent Hot Springs, Okay this no one went to. BUT the lady at the gym confirmed it was worth going! No one knew about it from my group so i thought i had confused it with another location and when I got back to the states, I realized I was right!
5. Go diving, A couple of our friends went. ( I didn’t do much of the swimming activities since I didn’t have my contacts on this trip). But they took some really cool underwater shots! Apparently there are some different hot spots to check out and this island actually is very inviting to divers from all over the world! So it definitely must be worth it!
6. Hike a volcano, There is quite a bit, some stretching super challenging, enough where you need a license. Others being that it’s just a leisure hike and need to just be safe, & CARRY SUNSCREEN.
