Best pasteis de nata
Manteigaria
@thelocaldispatch
The pastries at Manteigaria are perfectly baked, with a flakey crust that’s golden brown, but not burnt. And the filling is custard-forward, which we prefer over the more egg-forward ones.

A Brasileira
@thelocaldispatch
This cafe is a must-visit while you’re in Lisbon. Not only is it one of the oldest cafes in Lisbon (dating back to the 1800s), but it’s also a place of cultural importance as it’s long been a meeting and creative place for artists to meet.

Fábrica da Nata - Pastéis de Nata
@thelocaldispatch
The Pastéis de Nata (pictured left) at Fabrica were probably the most unique ones out of all the ones we tried in the city. While the filling is more custard than egg forward, the crust is more intentionally burnt than golden brown. This added a really pleasant smokey flavor to the pastry that really set it apart.

Pastelaria Alcôa
@thelocaldispatch
If you’re looking for a more “gourmet” Pastéis de Nata, we highly suggest Alcoa. This is definitely the sweetest one of these pastries we had in Lisbon, and if you love sweets, this place will be your heaven.
