MANHATTAN BEACH, CA

MK
A locals guide to all of my favorites for food & drink, ranging from high-end to affordable. While most locations are in Manhattan Beach, there are some honorable mentions in the neighboring cities of Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach.

WHERE TO EAT

Uncle Bill's Pancake House
@travelsbymk
Another mom-and-pop shop that has been a staple in Manhattan Beach for decades. The menu has something for everyone, including incredible chocolate chip pancakes and the fluffiest muffins.

Jus' Poke
@travelsbymk
My personal favorite that I stop by every time when I'm in town. The best Hawaiian poke in all of Los Angeles, and at a reasonable price. Nothing beats that.

The IZAKA-YA by KATSU-YA Manhattan Beach
@travelsbymk
Top notch sushi. A known chain in the Los Angeles area, Izakaya is perfect for every sushi lover. Their lunch deals cannot be beat.

FISHBAR
@travelsbymk
A place that's all about the fish. I recommend the following: lobster tacos, clam chowder, and the lobster mac n'cheese.

Simmzy's Restaurant Manhattan Beach
@travelsbymk
Burgers, beers, and the best fries. A small joint located on the main Manhattan Beach Blvd right up from the beach. Perfect for strolling in after a day in the sun. This place is super casual and laid back, which is exactly what you want.

Mama D's Original Italian Restaurant in Hermosa Beach
@travelsbymk
A staple in the South Bay. This family-owned Italian restaurant has been around for decades, and stays around for a reason. Some of the best Italian food in the area, in my personal opinion.

Two Guns Espresso
@travelsbymk
My personal go--to choice for a quick and easy breakfast. My favorite order is an iced monster (essentially a flat white with an extra shot of espresso) and their breakfast sandwich with all the add-ons: avocado, cheese, and prosciutto.

Martha’s Hermosa Beach
@travelsbymk
The breakfast spot of choice if you're over in Hermosa Beach. The perfect spot to take a food break after walking on the strand from Manhattan Beach.

Manhattan Beach Post
@travelsbymk
Great for an upscale brunch or a nicer lunch. Everything on the menu is to die for, especially the cheddar bacon biscuits with maple butter (trust me).

Sugarfish
@travelsbymk
A well-known sushi chain that never disappoints and always hits the spot.

El Gringo Manhattan
@travelsbymk
Can't forget about the Mexican food. While other places like El Sombrero are great, this is a personal favorite that has a mix of both healthy and indulgent Mexican cuisine.

Big Wok Mongolian BBQ
@travelsbymk
A local favorite that's been around for forever. Unassuming on the front, but serves some delicious Mongolian food. It's all you can eat, and made to order.

Thai Dishes
@travelsbymk
A place that likely isn't on a ton of lists and flies under the radar, but a personal favorite with flavorful, authentic Thai food that's different than the other restaurants in Manhattan Beach.

WHERE TO DRINK

Shellback Tavern
@travelsbymk
The local favorite filled from everyone straight from the beach. Very laid back, and everyone's favorite dive bar that's also right on the pier. The place isn't big, so get there on the earlier side to avoid lines later at night.

The Strand House
@travelsbymk
Right on the water and perfect for watching the sunset. This is both a restaurant and a bar, but I recommend going to the bar. On the pricer side, but perfect if you're looking for a classier, upscale place to grab drinks at the end of the day.

Tower 12
@travelsbymk
If you venture out to Hermosa, this is a perfect spot to grab a drink right on the boardwalk. Elevated on the second floor, it has a perfect view for people watching and a killer happy hour deal. Their burger is also delicious if you want some food. I would suggest getting there sooner rather than later to avoid waiting in lines.

Culture Brewing Co Manhattan Beach
@travelsbymk
A new place on the block located on the main street, Manhattan Beach Blvd. This brewery has a great amount of options for a drink after a long day at the beach.
