Scotland: 6 days of wonder
Day 1
I arrived at Edinburgh Airport and went straight to collect the car I previously booked with Hertz. If you're not used to driving on the left side of the street, I recommend to ask for the automatic transmission. We left right after to visit Stirling, a lovely city about 40 minutes away from the airport, famous for the Castle, key of the Kingdom of Scotland through the centuries.
After visiting the Castle, I headed to Loch Lomond & the Trossachs, Scotland's first National Park, where you can admire awesome landscapes and thriving nature, which was at is best when I visited in October. I stopped at a view point to take some pictures and then just drove through the park, but if you want there is plenty of hike to take.
Then you can continue you trip through the incredible Glen Coe, one of the most iconic and wild Glens of Scotland. The Glens are vulcanic valleys, characterized by hills and mountains with wild nature and must-see landscapes. It is a 14 km road which will take you to Glencoe village and Geopark, where you can learn the valley's origins. Also a lot of movies where shot here, such as Harry Potter or James Bond: Skyfall.
The last stop of the first day is Fort William, a lovely town near Ben Nevis, the highest mount of Scotland. I stayed at the Nevis Bank Inn, a very comfortable hotel, very easy to reach and which offers parking and an awesome breakfast. Since Fort William is located on a loch (lake in Scottish), to dine I found an amazing restaurant directly into the water, the Crannog Restaurant.
