Dive Bars in NE Minneapolis

Dive Bars in NE Minneapolis

NE Minneapolis is well known for its dive bars. Over the past 150 years, Minneapolis has gone through many changes and developments from its original name of St Anthony to skyscrapers to freeways. Bars have always been an important part of the lifestyle here. NE Minneapolis is known as the arts district, as well as middle-class working and immigrant neighborhoods. My parents grew up in this part of Minneapolis and I taught there for 9 years. I have highly enjoyed the nightlife throughout my adulthood, Here are my top 5 recommendations for dive bars in NE Minneapolis.

Ever heard of a Greenie! Well, this is the home of the famous Greenie...and the pinkie...and the bluey...and the purpley. These house made, secret drinks are famous and fabulous. Space can be tight here, but the drinks make all of us Minnesotans a little friendlier.

I have so many memories of this place with my fellow coworkers; from old men buying me drinks to singing karaoke, and dancing to bad 90's boy band music. This place is spacious for a NE dive bar. There is a seat for all types of drinkers.

Small space with local domestic and craft beers as well as greasy, yummy food. There's a few locations around the Cities, but the original location on 4th St is the best for atmosphere and culture.
