New York City, NY

New York City, NY

We went to New York for a day and a half before a wedding. We traveled with my wife's parents and her brother and his girlfriend on this itinerary. Below is a link to our Google Sheet Itinerary for 1.5 days in New York City. It will force you to make your own copy to edit as you need. Other ideas of what to do are on there that we didn't get to.

Day 1

After we landed at the airport we took a taxi to our hotel in Manhattan. From there we walked about 1 mile to Time's Square and passed Rockefeller Center on the way. You can get tickets to the top for a great view. We walked a few blocks, stopped and got tickets for a Broadway Show (see Hells Kitchen!), then walked to the end for dinner at Carmine's. Carmine's is an Italian restaurant that serves large portions to be shared among the table. This restaurant we conveniently located at the end of Time's square and across from the Broadway Show. After the amazing performance of Hells Kitchen we got dessert at Junior's Cheesecake shop across the street.

Day 2

We started with breakfast from Ess-a Bagel, a few blocks from our hotel then got ready to subway and walk to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. After 2-3 hours there we walked to a nearby Eataly and street market for lunch so everyone could get what was best for them. After refueling we walked through the financial district past the famous bull (there is a long line for pictures) and on to Battery Park. From Battery Park you can see the statue of liberty and take a ferry to it. We continued on along the water to another ferry to take across the river to Jersey City in New Jersey. If you have more time it would be worth taking the ferry to see or go in the Statue of Liberty. After the ferry back we took the subway back to our hotel to rest until dinner at a nearby restaurant, The Smith.

Day 3

This was a half day for us because we had to catch a train to Long Island for a wedding.  After breakfast we walked to FAO Schwartz toy store to walk through and admire all the toys and giant piano from the movie Big. Two people in our group are big fans of Lego so we also went to the Lego store to look at the amazing creations on display. From the Lego store we walked to central park and rented bikes. The park is 2.5 miles long and .5 miles wide. There is a main trail that makes a loop and without stops takes a little less than an hour to bike. We chose to bike because we didn't have time to walk it all.
