Stay

We enjoyed both our accommodations! Do note that Italy charges a city tax for accommodations (10-15 euros per day?) so remember to bring enough cash for this!

This place is slightly outside the city center but we enjoyed the walk! There's also a direct airport shuttle bus about 6-8 mins away, which we took it on our first day (cos there was train strike haha)

We booked this during our second leg of our trip to be closer to the Vatican City so that we could walk there without worrying about public transport (strikes are quite common).

We'd recommend that you take the cab to the airport (this accommodation can arrange for you) if your luggages are too heavy and you don't want to deal with the metro (too many stairs). It's a flat 50 euro!

The panini and cheese platters here are amazing! We came back twice! It's near the Colosseum so you can plan these 2 spots together!

Our Roman friend brought us here for dinner! It's near the Pantheon so you can pop by here for a meal when you visit the Pantheon.

We walked by the Pantheon many times but didn't have a chance to go in and regret not doing so cos all the Italians say that it's magnificent inside.

Experiences that we enjoyed

I'd recommend signing for the morning tour so that you get to visit the outdoor market - Campo De' Fiori! We got to sample different types of olive oil and cheese at one of the stalls.

It's a fun workshop if you like making things! Quite a long workshop though - was about 3 hours to complete one? The studio is on a nice street - nice to explore and have lunch too!

We love the photos! It's a nice way to document your memories as a couple (cos usually I find it hard to have nice couple photos when travelling)

Data

We usually get eSIM when we travel cos it's so easy to set up and we get data once I touch down!

Multi-currency mobile wallet

We always use our YouTrip cards to pay anything in euros cos of its competitive exchange rates.

You can also withdraw up to SGD400 per month at overseas ATM with no fees. After that, a 2% withdrawal fees apply.

Some ATMs may also charge a small additional fee - maybe 5 or 10 euro? which is quite reasonable.

Getting around

Bus and metro

We use our YouTrip cards to tap in and out of buses and metro—super convenient and hassle-free!

Train

We tried both trains to get from city to city and they are both great! So you can just pick the one that has a timing that works for you.

Usually if you book earlier (I think 10 days in advance?), there may be discounted tickets.
