KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

💵 Currency: Namibian Dollar (NAD)

The Namibian Dollar is interchangeable with South African Rand, which means you can pay for everything with ZAR or NAD wherever you go

🚙 Getting around:

Driving in Namibia is easy and stress-free. You can hire a car or use a guided tour (which usually involves a lot of driving). Public transport is possible but tricky for some of the National Parks, which are away from typical bus routes and train stations. This route assumes you have a car, and we recommend hiring a sturdy vehicle that can cope well with off-roading.

💰Tipping:

Tipping guides and service providers (such as restaurants) is customary in Namibia. Around 10-12% is standard or around $10 a day for a tour guide.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I'm Emma and with my husband Murray, I run That Travel. We are two responsible/sustainable travel advocates and travel agents. Our speciality area is AFRICA, since we travelled the East Coast and South of Africa for 6 months and have been many times before. Our guides always focus on the responsible side of travel. That means: eco-tourism, giving back to local economies, ethical wildlife encounters and making sure we always do what's best for local people. We have a real focus during our own trips on responsible travel and try to the best of our ability to keep our travelling beneficial to local people, economies and environment. This is something we focus on a lot in our blog and Instagram too. If you want to know how to travel sustainably, get in touch, we'd love to help.
