Marrakech - Historical Walking Guide - 1/2 Day
Welcome to Marrakech! There are so many things to see and do in this lively city. This particular guide will take you through a portion of the Medina (old town) that is just full of historically significant places.
First things first - this is designed to be a half day walking tour starting in the morning. The reason for this is that many of the sites have closing times in the late afternoon/evening and you don't want to arrive at the doorsteps of one of the palaces only to realize they are closed.
So set your alarms and put your comfy walking shoes on and let's get going!
Starting Point: Jemaa el-Fna Square
Welcome to Jemaa el-Fna Square, the beating heart of Marrakech! This lively square is where our adventure begins. Jemaa el-Fna has been the cultural and commercial center of the city for centuries, and it's easy to see why. By day, you'll find juice vendors, traditional medicine stalls, and snake charmers performing their hypnotic acts. By night, the square transforms into a carnival of food stalls, storytellers, and musicians, creating an atmosphere that's electric and unforgettable.
Why should you see it? Jemaa el-Fna is the perfect place to experience the vibrant spirit of Marrakech. The square is a melting pot of Moroccan life, where locals and tourists alike gather to enjoy the unique mix of sights, sounds, and smells. It's a place where history and modernity blend seamlessly, and where every corner offers something new and exciting. Whether you're sampling street food, bargaining for a souvenir, or simply people-watching, there's no better place to start your journey.
