When to visit?

Paros will be beautiful anytime of year, however now that the location is growing in popularity it can be wise to travel at different times of year to avoid the crowds. I visited in May and found this to be absolutely perfect - the tourists hadn't yet arrived in their flocks, the weather was warm and sunny, and the locals were opening up to prepare for the height of summer.

Given that much of Paros consists of small, local shops and restaurants down winding, narrow paths, it might be sensible to visit in May/June, or September to be able to fully enjoy the experience. This is not to say that July and August won't also be wonderful, I would just say that you need to be a bit more on top of your bookings for anywhere you want to visit and be prepared for the streets to be busier!

If the Summer weather isn't your cup of tea then of course you could also visit in the Winter months, however several of the locals don't actually open up their places in the off-season. Make sure to be aware of this and check any specific locations you were planning on dropping into and ensure they will be open for your arrival.

How to get there?

There are two ways you can reach the island of Paros, and that is either by air or sea.

By air you will need to fly into Paros airport directly from Athens which takes around 40 minutes. The airport is then a 20 minute or so drive from Naoussa (if this is where you choose to stay!), and many hotels offer an airport shuttle service for an additional fee.
