Start your day off right in Welly's Coffee Scene 

Known to most as the capital of NZ, but to the caffeine feens it's the capital of the coffee scene. Some of NZ's biggest coffee brands began and still roast right here in Welly. Start your day off the right way with one of these coffee favourites:

Then come to the Hangar to try a trio of flat whites, made up of 3 different blends of your choice you will be sure to leave buzzed and with a bag in hand. If flat whites aren't for you, they offer every form from pour-over, cold brew and espresso.

L'Affare is a firm local favourite with their industrial look and roastery in the cafe. Serving all day menu with their expertly made coffee, its well worth a stop when your in town

Mornings & Museums

One of the main attractions in Wellington is Te Papa Museum, it's free, its great for kids and adults and the exhibits change monthly so there is always something new to see. Don't miss the Sir Peter Jackson exhibit of World War 2 and the life size soldiers and nurses, it's truly spectacular.

Head to the Beehive for a free public tour of the political buildings, book in advance during school and summer holidays. Keep an eye out for sculptures and street art along the way!

Spend the afternoon in the Gardens

Take a trip up to the botanical gardens in the iconic cable car ($9 return or $5 one way). Once at the top check out Mt Victoria Peak for a great lookout over Wellington city, harbour and the mountains. Wander around one of the many great trails in the botanic gardens (you can walk back down or take the tram). You can also check out Space Place Observatory for planetarium exhibits and a giant telescope!

Where to eat?

Walk down Hannah's Laneway for a taste of  some of Wellingtons best small businesses and cafes foodie treats. Try Fix & Foggs delicious nut butter slathered on fresh thick cut toast or take a tour and learn how to make chocolate from bean to bar at Wellington Chocolate Factory. Wellington is not only the capital of New Zealand but the coffee capital too. Many of NZ's boutique coffee companies have roasters and barista champions.
