8 Work-friendly Cafés in Antigua, Guatemala
8 Work-friendly Cafés in Antigua, Guatemala
Roxana, @TravelWithNewEyes
Guatemala's former capital city, Antigua, is a charming and colorful city with beautiful colonial architecture and a lively atmosphere. I spent ten days there on my trip to Guatemala, visiting gorgeous ruins and trying tasty food and coffee.
Here are my favorite cafés in Antigua where you can enjoy delicious coffee and get some work done.

Cafe Boheme: Lovely terrace
Cafe Boheme

My favorite part of this café is the terrace. You can find some spots in the shadow and enjoy a coffee or breakfast while getting some work done. However, you won't find plugs here, so be prepared.

La Vid Coffee Roasters: A chill working spot
LA VID COFFEE ROASTERS
@travelwithneweyes
This is such a chill place to work. I always found it nearly empty, which was weird given how good the coffee is. However, that means it's super quiet, perfect if you need to focus. You also find many plugs, a big working table, and several other spots.

Starbucks: Not your usual chain café
Starbucks
@travelwithneweyes
I know what you may think, Starbucks, really? But hear me out. This is not your typical Starbucks. It's in a colonial building with a lovely patio and lots of places to sit and work while sipping on great coffee. Don't dismiss it right away.

Not only is coffee here great, but there's a lovely garden with lots of tables to work in a quiet atmosphere. They also serve delicious cakes and they sell lots of products, so you can also buy some gifts while you're here.

Coffee Shack: Help make the difference
Serve Hope Café GT
@travelwithneweyes
I found this place on my last day in Antigua while wandering around before catching my shuttle and I'm so happy I checked it out. This spot serves delicious coffee and has lots of areas for working or socializing. Plus, it's part of an organization that helps communities in need by providing access to water.

Alegria Café: The best location and delicious cakes
Alegría Café / Specialty Coffee Shop
@travelwithneweyes
This café is right around the corner from Plaza Mayor, the main square in Antigua. It only has a few seats, but if you go in at the right time, you can find a spot to have great coffee and cake while working or people watching. Plus, I love the minimalist decor.

Cafe Estudio

This is such a cozy café to spend some time in. I didn't stay on the terrace, but that is lovely too. Downstairs it can get more noisy and crowded, but I loved the atmosphere.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Roxana, @TravelWithNewEyes
Hi! I'm Roxana, a travel writer originally from Romania, but I lived over half my life in Italy. I've always had a passion for travel and writing, and I'm happy I managed to combine these two passions into an actual job. After living in Rome, Lisbon, Berlin, and Rome again, I became a nomad in January 2022. However, I regularly go back to my two homes, Rome, Italy and Brasov, Romania.
Over the past 14 years since my first solo trip, I have been to over 35 countries and countless cities. I have mostly traveled through Europe and spent extensive time in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Croatia, Greece, and Germany. Outside of Europe, I spent significant time in Guatemala, Australia, and the US.
Lately, I have appreciated slow travel. I like to spend more than just a few days in a city to truly get to know it, and this has allowed me to gain a deeper knowledge of many places.
My favorite things when traveling are:
- Trying the local food
- Walking everywhere
- Visiting museums
- Hiking
- Working from lovely cafés
- Finding the best viewpoints in town
If you enjoy any of these things, follow me for itineraries and guides on the best places to visit, eat, drink, hike, and enjoy the view. I am also offering custom services if you want some personalized travel advice. Thanks for sticking around and I hope to help you plan memorable trips!
